Work: Data Architecture, Strategy & Analysis. IT DEV Operations.
Data analysis, data architecture, implementation, tag management, specification, online marketing, eCommerce, technical SEO, consulting…a few terms that describe my work of the past years.
Working at Germany’s biggest TV brand for the last years my daily work involved a lot of the colorful creative strategies and creations a data manager needs to handle. My focus was on implementation and data architecture – solution design in other words. I debug, refactor, specify, develop & concept data environments across channels, departments and firms. My initial key competence has been web & mobile analytics, gradually developing towards data engineering. Up-to-date data strategies tackle omnichannel data aggregation, enriched in complex data environments to gain meaningful insights from customer data & behavior. The biggest challenge being the enablement of various departments in request for data such as marketing, BI, entertainment, IT DEV, IT Ops, sales, compliance, HR, CRM, products, etc. across the brand portfolio to actually use the (data)products in a meaningful way. Designing big data environments, data pipelines or similar environments is challenging, though big fun!
…But things have changed since 2021: Leaving the shiny TV business behind, I moved on to consult enterprise & mid-size customers backed by a strong consulting firm.
My working habit has developed in two flavors since leaving full-blown data implementation operations where I developed a lot myself:
- Operations: I lead & consult full stack software dev teams in the enterprise telco industry by defining processes, monitoring & optimizing them. The teams develop proprietary (usually Java based) Applications for operating & delivering fiber glass internet to customers in Germany. My Challenge: transform the project-scoped company culture to a more agile approach to make them scalable and compliant to exponential growth requirements in the market.
- Data Strategy & Consulting: I consult & develop data-driven strategies for mid-size customers, partly implementing myself. Projects focus upon development or implementation of analytics & tag management concepts, deployments or support of (online) marketing departments on designing campaign structures or analytics setups. Due to recent data privacy restrictions and overall market development the work has changed scope to a more technical level, where I build server-side analytics environments and data pipelines using Google cloud, Azure or AWS resources – preferably introducing orchestration layer infrastructure for various types of data that need piping between heterogenous tech stacks.
If you wish to get some support, feel free to contact me and discuss whether I can be of any help.
Spare time: Race cycling & more.
Once I have had enough of gazing at numbers and screens, I grab my bike and go for a decent workout.
The best way to find the right balance is to take the time and concentrate on something different. Endurance sport is one very effective strategy to free ones mind of daily clutter.

Other fun side projects:
Development of complex server-side workflow-based Home automation setups based upon HomeAssistant and Node Red, handling lights, locks, media, windows, multiple sensors, heating, energy etc. including visualization, data warehousing & data monitoring. Fun! And frustrating at times, if a workflow starts going sideways and things start developing a life of their own for ominous reasons :-) Debugging event-driven data pipelines can be a pain in the a*!
Frontend & Backend Tech:
Experimental fun projects with vue.js, nuxt, node.js, docker, reverse proxies, raspberryPi development, Gitlab deployment automation, dns filtering, mqtt, zigbee, homekit or similar topics ranging around modern CLI-based development, containerization and home automation.
